Mamma Mia — built entirely around ABBA songs that pretty much everyone already knows — is running as a licensed production at LG Arts Center Seoul from July 26 through October 25, 2026. You don’t need to know the plot, and you don’t need to understand Korean: the moment the songs start, you already know what’s happening.

The casting is the other reason this one stands out. Former f(x) member Luna has been cast as Sophie. It’s a well-known pattern in the industry that when a K-pop idol-turned-actor takes a lead role, international fans genuinely travel to see it — and that’s exactly the situation here.

Getting there

Subway Line 9 / Airport Railroad, Magongnaru Station, Exit 3 or 4 — an underground passage connects straight through to the box office and theater. One of the few Seoul venues you can reach without ever needing an umbrella, even in the rain.

On-the-ground tips

• Seats: Rows 1–10 on the main floor are close enough to catch facial expressions. The upper level has a steep rake, so sightlines are good throughout (except row 1, which is partly blocked by the safety rail). Opera glasses recommended.
• Parking: About ₩4,000 for 5 hours — pay at the first-floor kiosk ahead of time if you can.
• Concessions & outside food: A small concession stand sits near the box office; outside food isn’t allowed inside. If you buy something you don’t finish before intermission, staff will hold it for you.
• Tickets: If you want a keepsake, request a paper ticket instead of mobile.
• Photo spot: The cylindrical “tube” corridor designed by architect Tadao Ando is the spot everyone photographs.

Still confirming: foreign-language subtitles

Some smaller Daehangno theaters (Onsaemiro, Really Bad Girl, and others) have added multilingual subtitles, but there’s no official word yet on subtitle support for this Mamma Mia run. We’ve reached out to LG Arts Center directly (1661-0017) and will update this page once we hear back.
